Our roofers performed an inspection on a home in Dublin California.   The home has a roof with a 3-tab composition roof.   Our roofing contractors found this home had tree branches that had been in contact with the roof that had caused wear to the roofing material.  From the video you can observe the granulation that has been worn off of the shingles and a hole that has been created in the roof and is now causing a roof leak.  Our roofers further explain that nearby tree branches against the roof can cause mice, rats, raccoons, or possums to climb onto the roof.  Rats, mice, and these other animals can find their way into the attic through vents or other attic ventilation.   Our roofers indicate that it is wise to keep tree branches trimmed back about 6 feet from the roof to prevent small animals from having access to your roof and to prevent them from getting into your attic.  If you have had animals inside your attic, or fear that animals may have access to your attic, then our roofers recommend that you contact a tree trimmer or a landscaper to trim back any nearby tree branches and tree limbs, or to have any trees removed.
