An inspection was performed by our roofing contractors on a home in Stockton California.  The roofers found a home with a lightweight tile roof.  Many homes that had original shake roofs are re-roofed with lightweight tile because the homeowner prefers tile, but the structural system is not able to support the heavier common tile types, therefore lightweight tiles are used.  The roofing contractors explain how this type of roof breaks very easily.  These types of roofs should not be walked on by the homeowner or by any other person, because they will end up breaking tiles that will have to be replaced.  Even when repairing tiles on these types of roofs, often times roofers will end up breaking tiles trying to make repairs to the existing broken tiles.    The roofing contractors during this inspection found the existence of broken tiles that will need to be repaired.  These types of roofs should only be walked on by professional roofers.   Check out the inspection by our roofers in this video.
