“No other Roofing Company in Northern California Inspects, Repairs and Certifies More Roofs; or, Solves More Roof Leak Problems”
HOME PIGEON PROOFING
Once pigeons are born to an area, they will keep coming back so the trick is to end the roosting and nesting cycle. The conflict with the pigeon is not the nuisance of them eating, roosting and nesting, it is that the pigeon droppings are unsightly and hazardous.
Coming into contact poses a health risk. There is a disease caused by a fungus, histoplasmosis, which lives in the pigeon droppings. When the droppings harden and become dust like, the fungus will be airborne and breathed in causing a terrible respiratory illness.
The Three Steps to Abatement
Eliminate Food Source
Eliminate Water Source
Remove Nests and Shelter
BIRD NETTING & WIRE MESH
Bird netting and Wire Mesh are the strongest and most versatile bird exclusion systems in the world. Bird nets deny pest birds access to literally any architectural configuration including courtyards, rooftops, overhangs, parking garages, etc.
Bird netting consists of high density polyethylene twine that is twisted and knotted to form a strong impenetrable bird barrier to pest birds. The coloring and U.V. treatment are embedded in the composition, making the bird net more resistant to the effects of the sun with a more consistent coloring throughout. The bird netting is then stretched tight and attached where possible, forming a tight, solid, impenetrable bird barrier to humanely exclude the targeted pest bird species. For area where netting won’t work, wire mesh is used instead and is just as effective.
HOW CAN ROOF DOCTORS HELP YOU WITH PIGEON PROBLEMS?
If you do have pigeon problems, chances are that they may have already caused damage to the roof in the form of pigeon debris blockage in the sub-roofing at the flashings and underlayment, and in the gutter system. In many cases, the pigeon debris blockage is so severe that it is causing the roof to leak during wet weather. The only way to alleviate the problem is to professionally clean and remove the debris and then repair any roof damage that has been caused by the pigeons.
Once the bird debris has been removed and the roof has been repaired, then home pigeon proofing treatments can be applied to prevent the birds from returning. The situation needs to be closely monitored and future treatments may be necessary in order to make certain that these animals stay away.
If you do have pigeon problems, contact Roof Doctors for a free inspection and we will provide our recommendation and cost estimate for: cleanup and removal of pigeon debris; any repair that may needed to correct any roof damage; and, treatments to prevent future pigeon problems from occurring again. Roof Doctors only focuses on preventing the nesting of pigeons and cannot guarantee prevention of perching and loitering of pigeons throughout the roof.
